Anita Boateng is a strategic adviser, business leader and political commentator with experience spanning government, media and agency leadership. Prior to joining Hanover as President, Anita led Portland’s policy and public affairs practice, one of the agency’s largest and most successful teams, advising CEOs and senior leaders of global companies on political, regulatory and reputational challenges. She advised organisations across technology, consumer goods and financial services, helping them manage risk, shape outcomes and unlock growth.

She has led some of the UK’s most prominent public affairs and strategic communications campaigns. Her work has helped secure major policy changes, including influencing government approaches to copyright and artificial intelligence, online marketplace regulation and planning reform. Anita is recognised for helping organisations navigate moments where politics, policy, reputation and commercial objectives collide.

Alongside her client work, Anita has built and led high-performing teams and played a key role in the growth and evolution of the businesses she has worked in.

Before joining Portland, Anita served as a Special Adviser to three Cabinet ministers across five departments, including the Deputy Prime Minister. She advised on some of the most politically significant issues facing government during a period of profound economic and political change.

Earlier in her career, Anita was a political producer on BBC Question Time. She remains a regular political commentator, appearing across major UK broadcast media including BBC Politics Live, Newsnight and Sky News. She is the first former producer of BBC Question Time to later appear on the programme as a panellist.

Anita holds a degree in Politics, Philosophy and Economics from the University of Oxford and was recognised in the 2026 UK Black Stars list, celebrating influential British Ghanaians across business, public service and culture.
