With a long and distinguished career in politics, Janez Potočnik’s experience spans national and European policymaking, including two mandates as European Commissioner, first for the Science and Research and then for the Environment. His current role as Co-Chair of the United Nations Environment Programme International Resource Panel places him at the heart of the conversation about how the world addresses one of its biggest sustainability challenges.
Potočnik will focus his time and advice on sustainability strategies as part of Hanover 3600, a pan-EMEA offering for organisations looking to embed sustainability practices within business strategy, public affairs, and communications to drive meaningful change. Hanover’s 30-strong Brussels team works closely with businesses, trade associations, NGOs, and public sector bodies to bridge the gap between their business objectives and the policy environment in which they operate.
Hanover Brussels Managing Director Claudia La Donna said: “We are a rapidly growing business with a strong senior team, and we are delighted to add Janez Potočnik to the bank of talent and expertise. Businesses face uncertain times and relentless and rapid change. Janez’s depth of experience will be incredibly powerful in helping manage some of the regulatory and reputational risks ahead and find opportunities to create true business value.”
Hanover’s Rewire proposition helps build reputational resilience by identifying where strategies need to be reset in the face of constant disruption and rapid change. Janez Potočnik will join speakers from Unilever, the UK government, and the activist community in the next Rewire Conversations webinar event on 1 February. The event will focus on the policy and regulatory consequences of COP26. The panel will explore the impact for brands and businesses, the concerns of the NGO community and the hopes and expectations of the public for what comes next. You can apply to join the event here.
